Dolce & Gabbana Stars were shining on Lake Como
Between Enchanting Catwalks and Exclusive Fashion Events
Dolce and Gabbana were finally in Como to present their Haute Couture Collections.
Yes, exactly. This year Alta Moda Show was set against the backdrop of Lake Como, in a breathtaking villa with habit-wearing nuns and moustachioed men serving coupes of champagne, a costumed orchestra and a lawn lit with hundreds of tiny candles. Olivia Singer details the opulent show, featuring Helena Christensen, Naomi Campbell, Lady Kitty Spencer and Ashley Graham
In Como city, everyone is talking about this incredible Fashion Show.
This Fashion Show was so exclusive that there were also several curious people, who went close to Villa Olmo, the location designed by stylists Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce for their presentation, just to spot some VIPs.
There were also many people who wanted to have a look at the unique dresses of the pop-up boutique set up on the historic steamship “Patria” rented for the occasion. But this event was just for “a few” lucky people.
Until the 10 of July, there are several armoured events scheduled on the Lario.
On the occasion of the days of High Jewellery, Haute Couture and Haute Sartoria , the famous steamship, dated 1926, moored in front of Villa Olmo, with a magical atmosphere of the Thirties typical of souvenir postcards, retro taste, reproduced on clothes and Skirts in soft chiffon, charmeuse and organza, t-shirts, sneakers and accessories.
This incredible ship is ready to offer every comfort to D & G customers: there is also a Martini Bar on its terrace. Space is furnished with canvas chairs, deckchairs and striped umbrellas: the ideal place to enjoy a warm summer breeze and a romantic lake view while enjoying the Patria cocktail.
But let’s talk about the Fashion Show main concept.
The starting point for the collection was The Betrothed, a 19th century novel byAlessandro Manzoni that is broadly considered to have established the foundations of modern Italian (a costumed Manzoni was on-hand throughout the evening signing copies of the book with a quill – see, Disneyland).
I can say that monied eccentricity is a playground for the extraordinary craftsmanship that goes into these collections, where is possible to see the real creativity of Dolce & Gabbana.
The unique Tremezzina village, was, in my opinion, stunning. Tremezzina is located on the western banks of Lake Como, right in front of Bellagio, it is very romantic.
The choice of Villa Olmo was also perfect. This villa is a great example of neoclassical architecture. Its construction started at the end of 18th century and was finished in 1812 by marquesses Odescalchi. It belonged to family Raimondi and Visconti di Modrone. In Villa Olmo Party, there was an incredible lights show with the romantic music of a beautiful Piano.
I was so lucky to be part of this charming fashion moment.
Only Dolce and Gabbana are able to create such a magical, elegant and stunning Fashion Show.
