SHERRI HILL Spring 2017 Runway Show | NYFW

SHERRI HILL Spring Summer 2017 – New York Fashion Week

Sherri Hill’s SS17 runway presentation was a glamorous sight for sore eyes. Before the show, Olympic gymnasts Simone Biles and Aly Raisman, beaming in their custom Sherri Hill pieces, caused quite the commotion – and, as one can imagine, immediately afterwards as well.  When the audience had settled and the show had commenced, bright colors and bold patterns dominated the show,  with intricately embroidered textures, ornately arranged sequin beading, and high-shine luxury textiles bringing each dress to life.

A show for confident, sparkling girls of all ages, the presentation was peppered with three foot tykes strutting their stuff, delighting the star-studded audience. With short cocktail dresses to billowing trains and form-fitting gowns, pieces nodded to the evolution of women’s fashion over the past several decades: flapper-esque white fringed dresses swung down the runway, followed by the bold silhouette of a bright red sheath gown reminiscent of the 40’s accented with an aerodynamic cape, and even more modern still, jumpsuits with intricately sparkling bodices and shimmering woven silk trouser.

At no point was the modesty of the clothes a focus, but, Sherri Hill’s ability to mix media and textiles to produce laud-worthy special occasion pieces that don’t rely on the shock value of showing a certain amount of skin is phenomenal.
