Portugal Fashion Fall/Winter 2013/2014 – Alves/Gonçalves

The glamorous years of Hollywood of the 1940s and 1950s, revamped by the hands of the Alves/Gonçalves duo, are back for this autumn-winter 2013/2014.

“This is the continuation of our work, which involves the vulnerability and the more intimate side, the most delicate and fragile side of a woman.” Manuel Alves explains in relation to their new proposals for the next cold season.

A collection where large and structured silhouettes predominate, conjuring up the 1940s and 1950s, with waists marked by black leather belts over coats and dresses that vary from black, sometimes with traces of strong blue and red, as well as gold, camel, army green and old faded pink.

The opaque fabrics with a natural appearance intermingle with others showing more sophisticated and technical textures and shine, in an association of manual and highly crafted finishings.

Proposals “where our taste for architecture and the cinema are always visible in this discourse, in an atmosphere of urban and emotive intensity,” and which show “the continuous renewal and innovation of our design processes, clearly demonstrating our DNA in view of the reality and where our creations are always driven by the future,” the designer emphasises, who has worked for over 25 years, together with José Manuel Gonçalves.

A career that has enabled consolidating a style which they call “designer fashion with a couture spirit” and takes them to cities such as New York, São Paulo, Paris, Barcelona and Milan to present their collections.
