MILAN–It was if the modern metropolitan man’s inner circus clown was peeping out at Ermanno Scervino spring summer 2015 men’s fashion show.

And it was all about the subtle details. Playful stripes and polka dots, in an array of sizes and dimensions, as well as funky clown-shoe plays on the classic oxford, knocked the collection up a notch.

Everything from silk shirts, swim shorts to bow ties were adorned with the clownish pattern and contrasted with traditional sartorial blazers and rich, deep Mediterranean colors like the turquoise of Capri’s Blue Grotto.

The marine theme also made an appearance in the form of whimsical scarves, robe belts and striped sweaters.

“The man for next summer is an impeccable metropolitan dandy, with a kimono-style jacket and monogrammed slippers,” Scervino said.

With items like silky polka dot robes and plush, velvety evening slippers, stretch chinos in ecru and soft, silky track pants for any hour of the day, Scervino successfully pulled off the casual elegance look, blurring even more the lines between play and evening wear.

Playing with such a bold theme could have turned out to be quite a risky venture, but the Tuscan-raised designer, with a knack for cool Italian fashions, pulled the European metropolitan circus off with finesse.
